Everyday makeup and skincare for men

Everyday makeup and skincare for men

It is not uncommon for men to invest in skincare as well as makeup. European and Korean men place a lot of emphasis on skincare and wear makeup on a daily basis.  It is not uncommon for men in the corporate world to go for regular facials to ensure that their nose is blackhead free.

Some Korean men wear eyeliner on a daily basis along with moisturizer, sunscreen, bb cream or foundation followed by concealers and actors go on to contouring their facial structure with bronzer as well for a more masculine and chiseled look. More and more men are also getting their eyebrows threaded or waxed.

Heres an example for an everyday skincare and bare minimal makeup regime for men.

1.    Cleanse
2.     Tone
3.     Moisturize
4.     Sunscreen
5.     Foundation
6.     Or skip 4 &5 and apply a BB cream
7.     Concealer
8.     Contour ( optional)
9.     Eyeliner on the outer corners (optional) * eyeliner should be minimal for guys especially corporate individuals unless you are in the entertainment or creative industry avoid heavy dramatic eyeliner looks.
. Fill in your brows with brow pencil/powder ( optional)

End of the day

1.     Cleanse well and make sure you remove all makeup properly
2.     Tone
3.     Moisturize

How to create a good first impression

How to create a good first impression

As you all know, first impressions count and are pretty much formed sometimes just by superficial appearances before you even get a chance to open your mouth.

For instance your posture, overall outlook and demeanour are all taken into account in forming that first impression with a stranger and vice versa.

Tips that can help you to create a good first impression

1.     Be clean and well groomed.
Nothing turns someone off more than bad body ordour and hygiene like yellow teeth, bad breath, food stuck between your teeth, greasy hair that makes you look grimy.

2.     Avoid being sloppy.
Make sure your clothes are washed and ironed, avoid  wearing flip flops unless you are going to the beach or the wet market  & especially when you have important meetings.  Shorts and Tshirts are fine depending on the occasion but make sure that your clothes fit you right and are not overly baggy/ loose as that can also make you appear sloppy.

3.     Posture & overall vibe.
Avoid sulking or slouching. The way you carry yourself also conveys a message to the other party.

4.     Handshakes.
Make sure they are relatively firm and not half hearted and weak.

5.     Smile more but not excessively to the point that you are creepy. Try to strike a balance as you don’t want to appear hostile either.

How to accessorise for an interview

How to accessorise for an interview

1     Avoid overly accessorising with huge diamonds, branded watches. Keep it simple, to a maximum of 1 or 2 accessories.
If you are a woman, it would be ideal to wear some form of heels.

For men wearing a good watch and a good quality pair of shoes is important along with a nice tie and a belt.

For woman, pearl earrings are good and less flashy than huge diamonds, it can be accompanied with a simple necklace or bracelet but avoid over accessorising 2-3 should be enough.

For ladies, you can opt for nude shoes instead of the traditional black as nude shoes is fairly versatile and can often create an optical illusion of longer and leaner legs.

Overall go for quality over quantity as the quality of the things you use is a reflection of your standards as an individual.

Colours to wear to an intervew

Colours to wear to an interview

The rule of thumb for most interviews is to wear black or dark blue for ladies or plain solid colours.

For men, you can mix it up a little by going for a lilac coloured shirt under your black or dark grey suit.

Neutral solid colours are the safest choice when it comes to an interview.
Examples of such colours would be brown, blue, gray, black, white or beige for woman.

Different colours convey a different message. For example, the colour gray would convey sophistication and enables you to look powerful yet less domineering than if you were to wear black.

Black can be deemed as authoritative, dramatic and powerful it is ideal for a high level executive position or a job in an conservative industry like law.

It is ok to add a pop of colour like red in the form of a scarf or tie but avoid wearing overly bright and distracting colours to an interview as you want to be remembered for your substance and not for your over the top outfit or appearance.
