How to create a good first impression

How to create a good first impression

As you all know, first impressions count and are pretty much formed sometimes just by superficial appearances before you even get a chance to open your mouth.

For instance your posture, overall outlook and demeanour are all taken into account in forming that first impression with a stranger and vice versa.

Tips that can help you to create a good first impression

1.     Be clean and well groomed.
Nothing turns someone off more than bad body ordour and hygiene like yellow teeth, bad breath, food stuck between your teeth, greasy hair that makes you look grimy.

2.     Avoid being sloppy.
Make sure your clothes are washed and ironed, avoid  wearing flip flops unless you are going to the beach or the wet market  & especially when you have important meetings.  Shorts and Tshirts are fine depending on the occasion but make sure that your clothes fit you right and are not overly baggy/ loose as that can also make you appear sloppy.

3.     Posture & overall vibe.
Avoid sulking or slouching. The way you carry yourself also conveys a message to the other party.

4.     Handshakes.
Make sure they are relatively firm and not half hearted and weak.

5.     Smile more but not excessively to the point that you are creepy. Try to strike a balance as you don’t want to appear hostile either.
