5 affordable ways to change your image

5 affordable ways to change your image

       1.   Get a new haircut ( you’ll be amazed at how a change in hairstyle can make you look like a completely different person without having to undergo surgery)

       2.    Change your hair colour (opt for drugstore DIY option, a decent drugstore box of hairdye will set you back 10-12 dollars while if you get it done at the salon it could easily cost above a hundred.)

       3.  Change your brow shape (doesn’t necessarily have to be done permanently)
this can be done by experimenting with brow pencils, powder and getting rid of stray hairs with a tweezer. When in doubt, youtube it! There are a lot of tutorials on how to shape and draw your brows!!   ( getting your brows embroidered will cost a couple of hundreds up to a thousand while the option of grooming your own brows will set you back under 30 dollars for a pair of tweezers and a brow pencil)

4.Step out of your comfort zone in terms of fashion and styling choices eg change the way you do your makeup, colours you use etc. ( this wont set you back a great deal its just changing the way you make use of what you already have)

     5. Stay healthy and exercise regularly. Exercising does not mean you have to Invest in a
gym membership or a tonne of equipment, just put on a pair of jogging shoes and run outdoors or you can try online workout videos like blogilates which are free. Working out is a detoxification process and when you are healthy, it shows through healthy skin which translates to a clean and healthy image.

Tips on how to prepare for your first interview

Understanding the interview process

Depending on the industry and the nature of the job, interviewers always have a list of generic questions that they tend to ask.

1.      Tell me about yourself
2.     What are your strengths and weaknesses
3.      Describe a past challenge
4.      Describe a past crisis you once experienced
5.      Why should we hire you
6.       How would you describe your academic standing relative to your peers
7.      Tell me about your education history
8.      I see your past educational degree is in an area which is completely  unrelated     to the  industry that job you are currently applying for can you explain why you
are interested in applying for this position since your experience is completely in an unrelated field?

It is important to understand that a lot of these questions are asked at random and are generic. Most of the time what employers are hoping to achieve out of asking these questions are merely
to see how composed a candidate is and how well they are able to communicate and keep calm.
Understanding this is important as very often candidates who do not figure this out tend to blow    their cool and take things personally showing a lot of emotion during the interview process
 putting themselves at a disadvantage.

There is no right or wrong answer its just how you convey the answer, the thought process behind it and how effectively you communicate it across to your potential interviewers that would determine how successful you are.

Ultimately, while you are eager to land your first job, do not be afraid to ask genuine questions  about career potential etc. Many employers look out for this in candidates as it is a sign that this candidate isn’t blindly signing up for something cause he is desperate for a job but rather he is genuinely interested in paving a career out of this and therefore wants to know what hes getting himself into in the long run.

Last but not least, be confident and be yourself.

Standard First Interview Makeup

Standard First Interview Makeup

1.  Keep it as clean as possible. Emphasise clean skin, don’t pile on the foundation but keep it simple, conceal your blemishes, under eye circles.
2.Avoid dramatic smokey eye makeup and heavy contouring of the face

3.Use neutral tones for the eyes and face eg peach, brown and light colours.

4.Keep your brows neat and tidy. Do not make it overly dark or defined.

     5. For lip colour, a classic red is acceptable but I recommend sticking to nude and neutral peachy colours avoid vampy colours.
